Technology transfer has come a long way from the mid-1980s, when exploitation of intellectual property from government funded research was decentralised (Technology Transfer v.1 v.2). There is vibrant activity across our sector; processes and systems have become more joined up and have professionalised significantly over the last 15 years, with multiple approaches and models operating in parallel.
The BIA represents those people who make healthcare innovation happen, including from IP generated at universities and institutions (HEIs). Recent reports, including the Dowling Review, highlight that the UK is in a leading global position at doing this, but that there may be room for further cohesiveness.
This meeting is to bring together representatives from all parts of our wider community to debate policy and process ideas that could help unlock more value through technology transfer (Technology Transfer v.3). This will help shape thinking at the BIA as it continues to help drive new initiatives including though government, for the benefit of our sector as a whole.
This is an invite only event and places are limited.
